Black History Month is an observance of the history of the African diaspora in a number of countries outside of Africa. Since 1976, it is observed annually in the United States and Canada in February, while in the United Kingdom it is observed in October. In the U.S., Black History Month is also referred to as African-American History Month. Black History Month was begun as Negro History Week by historian Carter G. Woodson in 1926.
We should emphasize not Negro History, but the Negro in history. What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hate, and religious prejudice.
- Dr. Carter G. Woodson on the founding Negro History Week, 1926
Transformation Church (TC) “Town Hall” Meetings
The Church Council has approved the TC Report and Action Plans prepared by Ted Johnston. The report and plans must now be presented to the entire congregation for discussion, acceptance and participation. This will be done through a series of “town hall” meetings held on Sunday’s following services. The time for each meeting will be 2:15 pm until 3:30 pm. You are on your own for lunch. The meetings are scheduled as follows:
Sunday, January 22nd – TC Report
Sunday, January 29th – Action Plans
Sunday, February 5th – Discussion and Questions
The plans will then be implemented over the next several months. Every member of CRF is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings. If you have questions please see Pastor Joel. In case of inclement weather the meetings will be rescheduled accordingly.
Donations
Make all donation checks payable to Christian Reconciliation Fellowship or CRF. Offering is taken up during worship or may be given to an usher. Cash envelopes and Debit/Credit card slips are also available. For questions see Karen Irusta.
